Cops Seek Killer in Elks Lodge Murder

NEWBURG---  On June 28 at 1:44 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the Newburg Elks Lodge located at 12445 Rock Point Road for the report of a shooting.  When officers arrived, they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.  One of the victims, Michael Lamont Beverly, 33, of Waldorf, was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center where he died a short time later. The second victim, a 24 year old Newburg man, was transported to a hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the victims were in the parking lot of the business when they began arguing with the suspect, Terrell Lamont Thompson, 35, of Waldorf.  During the argument, Thompson produced a handgun and shot both victims. After the shooting, Thompson fled in a blue, four door sedan.  An arrest warrant was obtained for Thompson - who has not been located - charging him with second degree murder. Thompson is 6’3” in height, weighs approximately 205 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
