WALDORF ---- Charles Sheriff’s officers are looking for a
man who they believe is the cold-blooded killer of a
13-year-old girl who was shot dead in Waldorf just before
midnight on Friday.
Police say that Briona Jasmine Porter was with her mother
and aunt in a family owned ice cream truck testing new
equipment when a gunman approached them on Robinson Place.
When the man produced the gun the driver at the wheel of the
truck took off and the gunman began blasting a series of
gunshots into the ice cream truck, one of which hit the
child in the back.
The victim was flown by a Maryland State
Police helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Washington,
D.C., where she was pronounced dead about 12:30 a.m. June
30. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause
of death as a gunshot wound and the manner of death as
homicide.
The family drove to nearby Amber Leaf Place
and notified police.
Through their investigation, detectives with
the Major Crimes Unit have identified the suspect as Kevin
Mark Warren of Waldorf and have obtained a warrant for his
arrest for first-degree murder. Anyone with information
about Warren’s whereabouts is asked to notify police
