The Lexington Park Arby's on Great Mills Road.  ST. MARY'S TODAY photo

LEXINGTON PARK (Jan. 11, 2009) ---  The Black Bandit has struck again...no, its not 1991, the year is 2010 and the profile for the bandit who held up a burger joint on Sunday evening likely isn't too smart.  The Arby's location likely is the least productive location for the region's dozen or so stores and Sunday night is probably their slowest business time, thus this armed and desperate robber may have gotten enough loot to go to McDonalds and buy a Big Mac or maybe buy a rock of crack cocaine.

On January 10, 2010 at approximately 8:44 pm St. Mary’s County Deputies and Maryland State Police Troopers responded to the Arby’s Restaurant on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, Maryland for a report of an armed robbery.  Investigation revealed the suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money.  The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and property.

The suspect is described as a black male, 25 to 35 years old, approximately 5’6” to 5’8”, 160 – 180 pounds wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and black sweat pants.

Detective from the St. Mary’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective David Alexander at 301-475- 4200 ext. 1954 or Crime Solvers at 301-475-3333.  The caller does have to leave his/her name.  If the information leads to the arrest and conviction, the caller may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Police chased down a suspect into woods behind Nicolet Park and officers swarmed over the area, bringing in a K-9 dog and a Maryland State Police helicopter.

But the half-witted robber who got a couple of bucks from a burger joint just minutes before closing time, got away.
